Boxd Sports Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Boxd Sports collects, how we use it, who helps us run the service, and your choices. Boxd Sports is a mobile app and website for organizing and tracking sports pools. Everything in Boxd Sports is tracked in points only. Boxd Sports does not accept wagers, hold anyone's money, transfer money between people, or operate as a sportsbook or payment service.

Information you give us

• Account. Your first name, last name, email address, and password. Your password is stored securely, and we can never read it. Your name shows on boards and lists as "First L."
• Optional profile. Phone number, date of birth, street address, a default box name, and favorite sports, teams, and pool types. Date of birth may be used to send birthday messages and to verify age. Address may be used to send merchandise and to help verify accounts.
• Pool invites that require info. If a Commish turns on "On — required info," a join request collects first name, last name, email, and phone so the Commish can approve it.
• People you add. Names, emails, and phone numbers you save in My Player List or My People so you can invite them to pools.
• Photos. Pool logos and images you post in pool chat.
• Board photos. Photos of a pool board you upload so Boxd Sports can set up the pool for you.
• Messages. Pool chat messages, messages between players and a Commish, and conversations with Boxd Sports support, including the in-app Help chat.
• Website forms. Founding signup (name, email, phone type, and optional notes) and Suggest a pool (your idea, plus an optional name and email).

Information created as you use Boxd Sports

• Pools you create or join, boxes you claim, and your Survivor, Pick'em, and other picks
• Points in your pools, and a Commish's collection-tracking marks (points only)
• Your plan (VIP, Pool Pro, Founding, or tester) and your purchase records
• The days you use Boxd Sports, to count free days on plans and trials
• People you block
• Your notification and email settings, and a device push token if you turn on notifications
• Live Draw video, and recordings of a draw when the Commish saves one

Information collected automatically

• Crash reports and error details from the phone app (device model, operating system, and app version) so we can fix problems
• Our service providers may record IP addresses and basic device and browser information in their normal logs

Phone permissions

Boxd Sports asks before using your phone's camera or microphone (for Live Draw) or your photos (for pool logos, chat images, and board photos). You can say no, or change it any time in your phone's settings.

What we don't collect

• No wagers and no money. Boxd Sports never collects, holds, or transfers anyone's money.
• No card or bank numbers. Apple and Google handle purchases in the phone app, and Stripe handles purchases on the website. We keep a record of your plan and purchase, never your card number.
• No advertising. No ad networks and no advertising tracking. We don't sell, rent, or trade your information.
• No location tracking.

How we use information

• Run your account and keep it secure
• Operate your pools: boards, claims, picks, points, chat, invites, Live Draw, and live scoring
• Send the messages you ask for or the service needs, including pool alerts, weekly pool emails, birthday messages, and account email
• Handle subscriptions and plan benefits
• Fix problems and prevent abuse

Who helps us run Boxd Sports

We share information only with companies that help run the service, and only for that purpose:

• Supabase: database, sign-in, and file storage
• Vercel: hosting for the website and web app
• Apple and Google: app downloads, phone purchases, and push notifications (including Google Firebase Cloud Messaging on Android)
• RevenueCat: keeps track of phone app subscriptions
• Stripe: website payments
• Expo: push notifications
• Resend: email
• Sentry: crash reports
• LiveKit: Live Draw video
• Giphy: GIF search in pool chat (what you search is sent to Giphy)
• Cloudflare Turnstile: blocks bots at sign-up and sign-in on the website
• DataFeeds by Rolling Insights: live game scores (public game data, not your information)
• Anthropic: AI that answers Help chat questions, helps write weekly pool emails, and reads pool board photos you upload to set up a pool (what's sent: your Help chat questions, pool names, names shown on boards, picks, results, and board photos)
• OpenAI: backup for reading pool board photos, used only if Anthropic isn't available
• Twilio: text alerts to the Boxd Sports team about the service (may include a pool's name)

Each follows its own privacy policy. We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect Boxd Sports and the people who use it.

How long we keep information

We keep your information while your account is open. When you delete your account:

• Your account, profile, sign-in, alerts, settings, and pool chat messages are deleted right away.
• Pools you run pass to your co-owner if you have one. Otherwise they're deleted, along with everyone's boxes and picks in them.
• In other people's pools, your boxes and picks stay under your display name for as long as that pool exists, no longer connected to any account.
• Messages you sent to a Commish stay, without your account attached, until the Commish deletes the pool.
• Support conversations stay, without your account attached, and are deleted one year later.
• Payment records stay, without your account attached, for seven years for tax and accounting, then are deleted.

Your choices

• See and update your profile in Settings → Account.
• Change your alerts and emails in Settings.
• Delete your account in Settings → Login & Security → Delete account. Can't sign in? Email info@boxdsports.com from the email on your account.
• Subscriptions bought through Apple or Google keep going until you cancel them in your phone's settings.

Children

Boxd Sports is not for children. It is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we'll delete it.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including secure sign-in and access controls on our database. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe.

Changes to this policy

When we update this policy, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top. Using Boxd Sports after an update means you accept the updated policy.
